Hearing the word of God develops our faith not the miracle

Updated: Jun 3

Galatians 3:5.

Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Romans 10:17.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith comes by hearing and believing on the word of God.

The thought is this; the miracle is normal, not astonishing, there is actually nothing amazing about the miracle!

I am standing at a bus stop and I am going to catch a bus. Why then should I be amazed that the bus has arrived?

The Lord enjoys revealing to us His children His word about what He is going to do! When we have heard Him then our faith is built up within our spirit to fully expect Him to do what He says He will do.

And so we hear the word of God as our answer. He then puts the faith in us to pray through until we see and feel the change in vision, and then we can expect the miracle to physically arrive. Just like we see the bus times and then expect the bus to arrive in the station.

The adventure unfolds as we learn to hear the word of God, pray, and then experience miracles taking place… how exciting!

Romans 5:2.

we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Let's hear what He is saying and through His building of faith in us (Hebrews 12:2) access His miracle working grace and power!

*A note on miracles:

1) Jesus' faith was developed through devoting Himself to the hearing of and the study of the word of God. He grew in stature and wisdom in Nazareth. He 'waxed strong in spirit' before any open miracles. (Luke 2:40)

2) Seeing miracles may stir our faith (faith that is already there within us) but the miracle itself doesn’t not cause the faith it is rather the effect of faith.

3) If we see a miracle happen for someone else and then also try “to receive it” we may be sorely disappointed if that miracle doesnt happen for us! This behaviour can be an abrasive striving to make something happen that may not be what God wants for us. First we are to hear His specific word on the matter on what He will do for us personally. None of us nor are our miracles the same!

4) Observing the Lord work a miracle for another person may highlight comparison and jealousy within us proving only that we need to work on our character. With a magnifying glass we should continually and carefully examine our hearts as these things take place.

Faith comes only by hearing of the word of God.
